Harriet FLOWERS (née Harriet LAW) 1837-1903 was a maternal gg grandmother. Married to George FLOWERS 1839-1891, but as I have already discovered, George was languishing in Sheffield General Infirmary at the time of the England and Wales Census 1881.

George Flowers 1839-1891

This record from the England and Wales Census 1881 solves the mystery of my gg grandfather George FLOWERS 1839-1891 not being shown as head of the household. The poor fellow was languishing in Sheffield General Infirmary. I can now approximate his date of birth to circa 1840.

My ASHFORTH line ancestors originate from Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Though in decline now, Sheffield is famous for steel and cutlery production and most of my ancestors had some connection with these industries.
