Ivy DIXON my paternal grandmother was born at the village of Upton, Lincolnshire on the 5th of October 1901. Her father Samuel DIXON was born at Horncastle, Lincolnshire in 1869. Her mother Mary Maria MAPLETHORPE (sometimes spelt MABLETHORPE) was born at the village of Kexby in 1878. Ivy DIXON was the youngest of three children, the others being Charles Edward DIXON, born March 1898, at Marton, Lincolnshire, and Alice DIXON, born December 1899 at Upton, Lincolnshire.
Samuel DIXON died of Tuberculosis at Kexby on the 20th of November 1906, age 37 years my grandmother being only 5 years of age.
Mary Maria DIXON (née MAPLETHORPE) eventually married again, her second husband being Joseph CARTER, born 1877, at Fillingham, Lincolnshire. They were married in June 1913.
Mary and Joseph had two children, Harold CARTER, born September 1913 and Kathleen CARTER, born June 1917.
Ivy DIXON married Wilfred JACKLIN at the 17 Apr 1922 the Church of St.Mary, Handsworth, Sheffield, Yorkshire.
Charles Edward DIXON died on the 14th of April 1917 as a result of illness contracted fighting in France during World War I and is buried at Marton Cemetery, Trent Port Road, Marton, Lincolnshire.
Alice DIXON married Fred FORD born 1893 and gave birth to 5 children:
Frederick James FORD born 1922, died on the 30th August 1944 at Normandy, France.
Derek Duncan FORD born 1930, died 3rd of November 1941.
One of the children is still alive and living at Marton. Another I remember visiting as a child and may still be alive. I have no details regarding the fifth child.
Mary Maria CARTER (née MAPLETHORPE) died on the 22nd of November 1959 and is buried at Marton Cemetery, Trent Port Road, Marton, Lincolnshire.
I am not sure when Joseph CARTER died but I remember as a young child attending his funeral at Marton church.
Wilfred JACKLIN died at Sheffield in September 1967 and Ivy JACKLIN (née DIXON) died at Sheffield in 1983.
