Earlier this year I wrote about coming upon Hannah CUTTS (née Hannah ALLEN abt. 1856-Deceased) and Frederick CUTTS abt.1885-Deceased living at Treeton, Rotherham, Yorkshire. To read this article please click here. My great grandparents Daniel JACKLIN 1862-1953 and Ziller JACKLIN (née Ziller ALLEN 1858-1949) lived close by at Aston-cum-Aughton. I presume all had relocated to this area to take up employment with local coal mining companies. I am aware of Ziller (Zillah) ALLEN living in the household of George SMITHSON at East Drayton, Nottinghamshire but when I carried out a search for ALLEN on the England and Wales Census 1881 I also found an entry for an Elizabeth ALLEN in this household. While researching my previous 2 posts re: Zillah ALLEN, I came across this record (which as it turns out, I already have) from the England and Wales Census 1891. It records Daniel JACKLIN 1862-1953 and Ziller JACKLIN (née ALLEN) 1858-1949 living at Aston-cum-Aughton so I decided to browse through some of the other households in the same area with a hunch that other members of the family may have relocated to the same area in order to find work in the coal mines. Little Gringley being the birthplace of Hannah CUTTS (neé Hannah ALLEN) and with Little Gringley being a sparsely populated hamlet, this could well be a clue worth saving for research into the ALLEN family. The village of Treeton is only a few miles from Aston-cum-Aughton and Swallownest where Daniel JACKLIN and Ziller JACKLIN (née ALLEN) lived after they were married. Wilfred Jacklin 1926-1926: Died age 6 hours

My great grandparents Daniel JACKLIN 1862-1953 and Ziller JACKLIN (née Ziller ALLEN 1858-1949) were both buried at the Orgreave Lane section of Handsworth Cemetery, Sheffield, but as I noted in this article, despite having the plot number I have failed to find their grave. It crossed my mind that I may have been mistaken about Orgreave Lane and they were actually buried in the graveyard of the Church of Saint Mary, Handsworth, Sheffield. Late last night while mulling over how to proceed with my research into John ALLEN 1831-Deceased and Fanny LITTLEWOOD 1832-1915 I noticed Joseph LITTLEWOOD 1811-Deceased and Zillah FENTON 1811-Deceased in my family tree but I had marked it 'tentative'. I have always had a certain amount of success searching on either 'Little Gringley' or the various forms of the forename 'Ziller' my great grandmother Ziller ALLEN 1858-1949 used. Little Gringley, Retford, Nottinghamshire Leaving East Drayton we moved on to the nearby hamlet of Little Gringley, approximately 4 miles east of Retford, Nottinghamshire. Little Gringley is the birth place of my great grandmother Ziller JACKLIN (née Ziller ALLEN) 1858-1949. Little Gringley consists of just a few cottages and farms and I doubt it has changed a great deal in over 150 years. There isn't a church in Little Gringley so we were left guessing where the locals would be buried since Little Gringley seemed to be equidistant as the crow flies between Grove and Clarborough.
